Your Daily Sensory Integration Practice
What this is: A brief, evidence-based nervous system regulation practice based on Ayres Sensory Integration® research. Done consistently throughout the day, it gradually recalibrates your nervous system’s baseline — making the emotional flooding of RSD less total, less frequent, and more recoverable from.
What you need: a soft-bristled surgical brush (Therapressure brush), a flat surface to stand near, and optionally a small trampoline or yoga ball. Set a timer every 90 minutes during your waking day.
1
Sensory Brushing · 3–4 minutes
Firm, even, overlapping strokes across both arms (shoulder to wrist), both legs (hip to ankle), and the upper and lower back. Never the face, stomach, or chest. Pressure should feel organized and containing — not tickling, not painful.
2
Joint Compressions · 4–5 minutes
Ten firm, rhythmic compressions at each site: shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles. It should feel grounding and satisfying — like coming home into your body.
3
Vestibular Reset · 2–3 minutes
Choose one: 20–30 gentle jumps in place, two minutes bouncing on a yoga ball, or a brief walk with deliberate heel-strike contact. Notice how your body feels afterward.
Consistency is everything. Twelve minutes eight times a day will change your nervous system. A two-hour session once a week will not.
